Jackie Heftman, Democrat Candidate

Philosophy:

All children can learn in heterogeneous classrooms when given access to a high level curriculum and supported
with scientifically research based interventions and enrichment opportunities.

Vision:

The Stamford Public Schools prepares each and every student for higher education and success in the 21st century.

Major Issues:

1. Superintendent search: Superintendent should be an educator with urban school experience
and a proven record of success in raising the achievement level of all students; and who demonstrates a model
of collaboration with teachers, parents, central staff and the community at large.
2. Monitoring: The Board of Education should continually monitor the programs in place to ensure that all
children's needs are being met and that we are accomplishing the goals set forth in the Strategic District
Improvement Plan adopted by the Stamford BOE and the State BOE.
